    Our residential care provsion

Swalcliffe Park school is a school for children with autism catering for boys on a day and residential basis.

The school’s facilities are set within 20 acres of parkland including a fishing lake, woodland, sports fields and an outdoor fitness trail and play equipment.

Resident students live in one of four houses based within the grounds and are supported by a dedicated team of experienced and highly qualified residential staff.

The 2022 Ofsted report into residential care says Swalcliffe Park School’s, “Children and families are thoroughly prepared for moves into, and eventually out of, the residential provision.

Their futures are addressed from the point of admission, with every support provided for pupils to gain as much independence as possible and be confident in moving on. This support continues well after pupils leave if they want to receive it and maximises the potential for students to continue the progress they have made at the school and to make a success of their lives.”

All of the houses have a welcoming, ‘homely’ feel.  All students have their own rooms which have all recently been renovated to a very high standard and offer en-suite accommodation with digital key access for each student.  Students are encouraged to personalise their rooms with items from home. Kitchen facilities and lounges in each house are designed to encourage family style living, independence and opportunities for socialising.

In the majority of cases, keyworkers for each resident student and their family will be a member of the residential house staff team who have particular concern for boy’s mental health and ensure all types of care are on hand as required.

Students can keep the same bedroom for the duration of their time at school.

If you need to contact the residential team after 5pm you can call the main school number or the house directly.

My son has thrived since boarding in the school as he has an individualised programme in every way.

We offer a ‘waking day’ curriculum to all students, which includes the school’s bespoke ‘Independence Plus’ curriculum as well as a range of on and offsite activities. These tap into the special interests of the students, promote social inclusion and provide a structured support for the development of independence and life-skills.

The ‘waking day‘ curriculum also offers students opportunities to achieve certification in a wide range of activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, climbing, cycling, football coaching, sailing and swimming, to name but a few.

Each boarding house has a warm and nurturing atmosphere and environment within which young people relax together and enjoy time with each other. (Ofsted)
