Coronavirus family briefing number 1: 11.30 am Thursday 19th March 2020
It goes without saying that these are challenging times for all of us, but please be reassured that the decisions we make will be in the best interests of all our school community including students, families, staff and Governors.
We are writing to provide you with our current thinking on school operation, however we are all very aware that this is a rapidly evolving situation and we all need to follow the most up to date advice from the relevant authorities. With this in mind, we will be sending out regular updates via email, Facebook and the school’s website.
What we can say at this point:
• The school will stay open as long as possible up until the end of term, but naturally we will need to review this on a daily basis depending on staff availability. We will provide daily updates to keep you as informed as we possibly can.
• All non-essential meetings have been postponed including ‘Pathways Day’ which was scheduled to take place on Thursday April 2nd. Annual Review meetings due to take place this Friday, have been postponed and decisions about all meetings going forward will be made in due course. Where these can take place remotely, we will see how we can facilitate this. We would also like to avoid any unnecessary visits/ visitors to the school including contractors, training, meetings etc.
• We are aware that all GCSE and ‘A’ Level exams have been cancelled or postponed and we are waiting for further guidance from the Department for Education on what will happen instead. We will follow this guidance.
• We know it is difficult to make decisions about self-isolation but please make decisions based on the advice you receive that is appropriate for your family and keeping everyone in school as safe as possible.
We will provide further information later this afternoon,
Hoping everyone is staying healthy and safe,
Best wishes from us all at school,
Kiran, Rob and Rob
