Corona virus briefing update Number 22 June 5th 2020

Good afternoon all,
Greetings from school on this sunny (and sometimes rainy!) afternoon. We thought we would use this briefing update to share our experience of the first week back after half term, with the increased number of boys on site.
First of all, it has been lovely to see so many boys back in school and thank you to all families who helped to prepare them for their return, after a prolonged absence. We are very aware that despite wanting to come back, this caused higher than usual levels of anxiety for some.
Given the circumstances, we are delighted with how the week has gone and how well the boys coped with the changes around the school to ensure their safety. However, quite naturally it was tricky for some as not all their friends were in the Week 1 group, but hopefully it has served as a helpful re-introduction into school life which we will be able to build on in subsequent weeks.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming the Week 2 Group on Monday and this means that by the end of the week approximately 75 % of boys will have spent some time back in school. If your son is coming on next week please remember to follow the guidance we sent out last week, including the video, which you can find at the bottom of this briefing update.
In terms of future planning, in all likelihood we will be repeating the Week 1 group on Monday 15th followed by the Week 2 group on Monday 22nd, however, this is subject to a variety of conditions including national guidance from DfE and NASS, as well as staffing availability. We will keep you updated through these weekly briefing updates but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
From Monday 15th June all staff who are able, will be back in school to carry out their role, rather than working remotely. This means that there will be more support for a wider range of activities and the boys will be able to re-connect with those members of staff with whom they feel most confident and comfortable to talk to.
We hope you all received the ‘lockdown’ special edition of Headlines and enjoyed reading about what has been going on over the past few weeks. There will be a further edition towards the end of the month which will include news on school development and improvement including new staff, site developments and timetable related information for September.
If your son has not been part of either the Week 1 or Week 2 groups so far but you would like them to join from June 15th, please just let Chris Heslip know on cheslip@swalcliffepark.co.uk. We would be very keen to increase the number of boys on site as, this will make it more fun for those who are here and help to create a sense of a more normal school environment.
On that positive note we would like to wish everyone a relaxing and enjoyable weekend…whatever the weather!
Best wishes,
Kiran, Rob and Rob
