The curriculum is designed around the needs of our young people. We look at every opportunity for our boys to achieve, this can be academically, personally and vocationally. We believe our curriculum design allows for excellent opportunities to build self esteem through academic success – this leading to them being prepared for the world of work, Post 16 or college.
The school gives the student every opportunity to access the National Curriculum and more:
We aim to provide for the student:
- Access to vocational subjects such as ICT, CDT, Food Tech.
- All subject teachers are extremely skilled in their delivery – literacy, numeracy, ICT and Social and Emotional Learning.
- A Life Skills programme which is accredited by ASDAN.
- In KS4 support with transition planning by investigating local colleges and 6th Forms in their area.
- Applications and maybe insets.
- Employability, skills and work experience
- Where appropriate some students may access the 14-16 provision at our local colleges.
- At the start and end of each day the student will spend time with their Personal Tutor who will monitor their progress and highlighted any extra support they may need. During tutorials the student and the tutor will set targets together.
Students are in classes approximately of upto 6 boys, 1 teacher and 1 LSA.
The main strength of the education department is the high skilled and trained teaching team. Student success is at the heart of everything we do.
